WHAT IS AN INTENSIVE?
The Hidden Discipline is an 8-week program adapted from Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), a heavily-researched meditation course developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn in the 1980s.

MBSR has been taught to 10,000+ people, and has been found to have a positive impact on attention, executive functioning, life satisfaction, stress, ADHD, anxiety, chronic pain, burnout, chronic illness, and depression.

We call the course an intensive because it is intense—it requires 30-40 minutes of daily home practice, in addition to shorter, informal practices to help integrate mindfulness into your daily life.

We ask for a lot, but you’ll get out of it what you put in. If you’re willing to commit the time, it may well change your life.

The course includes:
  • A live, 90-minute session each week on Wednesday evenings, 7-8:30pm EST
  • A 60-minute breakout session on Friday afternoons at 12pm EST
  • A 24/7 online community to ask questions and connect with other participants
  • A half-day retreat to integrate everything you’ve learned
  • Exercises and worksheets to help you integrate couse concepts
  • Lifetime access to course materials and recordings

About your Instructor

Hi, I’m Casey—a founder and executive coach based in NYC.

I discovered meditation through an MBSR class in 2013, and it changed my life. Since then, I’ve had a daily practice, sat a dozen silent retreats, and have done teacher trainings through UPenn, Brown, and UCSD.

I regularly incorporate mindfulness into my coaching work with startup founders, but mindfulness is better learned in a cohort than 1-on-1. So, I created The Hidden Discipline—a course that helps high-performing people establish a mindfulness practice.

Before becoming a coach, I founded Hacker Paradise and worked at Xenon Partners. Outside of work, I write, build communities, and recently became a father.

Is this course right for me?

Why should I take this course now?

Are there any prerequisites for this course?

No prior experience with meditation is required. The course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with an existing practice looking to go deeper.

What if I've never meditated before?

This course is designed to give you everything you need to get started, including guidance from an experienced teacher, a supportive community, and all the tools and techniques to establish your own practice.

What if I'm an experienced meditator?

The Hidden Discipline can help you recommit to your practice and integrate mindfulness more fully into your life. There will be an equal emphasis on formal and informal mindfulness practices, turning your life into an 8-week learning laboratory.

What if I’ve tried meditation and I’m "bad" at it?

Many people feel this way at first. Meditation is a skill that anyone can learn with practice and proper guidance. This course will help you work with common challenges like restlessness, distracting thoughts, and sleepiness.

What if I can't attend a live session?

We strongly encourage you to attend sessions live. That said, all sessions are recorded, so you can catch up anytime if you have to miss one. You'll also have lifetime access to all course materials.

I'm not based in the U.S. Can I still participate?

Absolutely. All live sessions are held via Zoom, so you can join from anywhere in the world. The main sessions are Wednesdays at 7pm EST and the breakout sessions are Fridays at 12pm EST, so you'll want to check if those times work for your time zone.

How much time will I spend on the course each week?

Expect to spend about 2.5 hours per week on the live sessions and an additional 30-50 minutes per day on home practices. The more time you put in, the more you'll get out of the course.

How long can I access course materials?

You'll have lifetime access to all course materials, including guided meditations, session recordings, exercises, and worksheets. You can revisit them anytime to support your on going practice.

Can't I just learn to meditate via apps like Calm and Headspace?

While apps can be a great supplement, research shows that a live, teacher-led course is significantly more effective for establishing a long-term meditation practice. The accountability, direct guidance, and peer support are key for creating lasting change.
